Dmytro Bilocterivets resigns as co-head of Kyiv City Council’s «Udar» faction amid rumors of conflicts with Vitali Klitschko

The political landscape of Kyiv is experiencing increased tension as Dmytro Bilocterivets, a long-standing member of the Kyiv City Council and former co-chair of the «Udar» faction, has officially stepped down from his leadership role.

This development has stirred considerable interest among political observers and the general public alike.

While no official reasons have been provided by Bilocterivets himself, rumors circulate suggesting growing disagreements between him and Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

According to sources within the «Udar» faction, internal conflicts and escalating friction with city authorities have been factors contributing to his decision, with some reports indicating that these issues surfaced as early as summer.

Bilocterivets, who has over ten years of political experience and has been with «Udar» since 2012 — initially leading the youth wing in Crimea and Kyiv — remains a prominent figure.

After the occupation of Crimea, he relocated to Kyiv, where he served as director of the municipal services department from 2014 to 2016.

Since 2016, he has been serving as an advisor to Mayor Klitschko.

Despite his longstanding role, his recent activities have attracted scrutiny from law enforcement.

In April, the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches of his residence amid allegations of illicit activities surrounding cryptocurrencies valued at approximately $30 million.

Officials emphasized that the search was limited to verifying the origin of these assets and did not pertain to other ongoing investigations involving Kyiv city officials.

Bilocterivets publicly described the searches as politically motivated harassment, framing it as an attempt to undermine his political career and discredit his work within city governance.
