Court Orders Detention of NABU Detective Father Who Investigates Mindich Case

Chas Pravdy - 11 September 2025 20:24

Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court has decided to remand in custody the father of one of NABU’s leading detectives, Ruslan Magamedrasulov, who is a key figure in the investigation of businessman Timur Mindich’s case.

Despite the defense’s requests to modify the preventive measure to something other than detention, citing the suspect’s chronic illnesses and recommendations from the Ministry of Health to avoid incarceration, the court dismissed these claims.

Magamedrasulov Sr.

will remain in custody at least until October 21.

It is noteworthy that the family of the detainee, including his daughter and sister, state concerns over what they perceive as moral pressure and psychological abuse, specifically mentioning that the father was stripped naked for inspection.

The relatives believe such actions are unacceptable forms of humiliation.

Meanwhile, authorized agencies are obliged to ensure the suspect receives medical care in line with standards.

Data from the Center for Counteracting Corruption indicate that a SBU investigator signed case documents on a BRC form, raising questions about transparency.

According to sources, Magamedrasulov Sr., has been in pretrial detention for over 50 days, which raises alarm among human rights defenders and his family.

Additionally, there are suspicions of links between officials and Russian intelligence, including allegations of illegal trade with Russia.

The family and defense consider this case politically motivated, aimed at exerting pressure on anti-corruption bodies and their personnel.

It is known that Ruslan Magamedrasulov is head of an interregional NABU unit overseeing operations in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, which are currently under investigation.
