Russian Propaganda Attempts to Shift Blame for Drone Incident onto Ukraine: CPCD Analysis
The Ukrainian Center for Counteracting Disinformation has again issued a warning about a large-scale informational campaign undertaken by Russian propaganda to shift responsibility for the recent drone incident over Polish territory.
It is known that Russian media and pro-Russian outlets are actively disseminating messages claiming that the incident was a deliberate provocation by Ukraine and its supporters, aimed at dragging NATO into a military conflict with Russia.
According to CPCD, Russians blame Ukraine for allegedly using radio-electronic warfare devices to launch Russian drones into Polish airspace, creating a false narrative of escalation and provocation.
Experts emphasize that this disinformation is far from reality and represents a typical tactic used by Russia to justify its war crimes against Ukrainian civilians.
In light of recent developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that this incident sets a highly dangerous precedent for Europe, as the violation of Polish airspace by drones threatens regional security and increases the risk of escalation.
Ukrainian authorities reported that at approximately 01:30 on September 10, Ukrainian Air Forces detected a possible breach of Poland’s airspace by Russian attack drones, leading to the closure of several airports and an elevated state of combat readiness.
Official sources confirmed the airspace breach and urged residents to remain in safety.
Following the incident, Polish aviation authorities intensified their measures, deploying not only Polish fighter jets but also aircraft from allied countries, and strengthened air defense readiness.
U.S.
Congressman Joe Wilson highlighted Russia’s aggression during an official statement, underscoring that such actions constitute a clear and direct attack on NATO and its allies.
This incident underscores the urgent need to enhance regional security measures and actively counter Russian disinformation campaigns that aim to mislead the world and justify aggressive actions.
