Poland Responds Firmly to Nighttime Russian Drone Attacks and Calls for Strengthening EU and NATO Defense Cooperation
Amid rising regional tensions, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski issued an official statement regarding the recent nighttime incidents where Russian-made drones violated Polish airspace 19 times in a single night.
He emphasized that these attacks were not random but deliberate acts of aggression aimed at intimidating the Polish population and destabilizing the region, potentially provoking conflict between Ukraine and Poland.In his statement, Sikorski highlighted that Poland, along with the European Union and international partners, will not succumb to Russia’s provocations and remains committed to supporting the brave Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and independence.
Despite these provocations, Warsaw is resolute and plans to bolster its defense capabilities and work closely with NATO allies.Government spokesperson Adam Shlapka reminded that following these incidents, NATO member states activated Article 4 of the alliance’s treaty, which involves consultations when a member perceives a threat to its territorial integrity or security.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that this was only the beginning and that Poland is preparing for more active assistance and defensive measures.
