Hamas Responds to Trump’s Ultimatum: Readiness for Negotiations and a New Diplomatic Phase in Palestine

Chas Pravdy - 08 September 2025 02:25

The tense situation in the region highlights the complexity and variability of diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly through the stance of the Palestinian organization Hamas.

Following the recent warning issued by former U.S.

President Donald Trump, the Palestinian group issued a statement that, despite its cautious tone, demonstrates an openness to seek solutions to the ongoing conflict.

In their official declaration, Hamas emphasizes their readiness to immediately sit at the negotiation table to discuss the release of all prisoners exchanged for a clear cessation of hostilities, as well as a full withdrawal of troops from the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the document mentions the establishment of an independent Palestinian committee that could govern the enclave in the future.

The organization confirmed that it has received some proposals from the American side regarding a ceasefire and is actively engaging mediators to turn these ideas into a comprehensive agreement that aligns with their demands.

This response follows Trump’s warning, which threatened severe consequences if Hamas refused to accept U.S.

conditions for prisoner exchanges and ending the conflict in Gaza.

It is expected that in the upcoming days, the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt will present a comprehensive plan to establish a full ceasefire, release all detainees, and create a new administrative body replacing Hamas — a significant step toward regional stability.
