Zelensky Highlights Ukraine’s Arms Production and Strategic Move Towards Self-Sufficiency in Defense Industry
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again emphasized the importance of developing Ukraine’s defense industry in his recent address, noting that nearly 60% of the weapons used by Ukrainian defenders are domestically produced.
The head of state pointed out that this achievement underscores the country’s industrial independence and its capacity to supply modern weaponry and protective equipment on its own.
Zelensky shared that new joint production facilities are being established with international partners, including Ukraine’s first-ever collaborative plant with Denmark, dedicated to manufacturing missile components and drones — weapons that have already proven their effectiveness in combat.
“We have already achieved significant milestones in this field.
During the war, Ukraine has reached a production level of about 60% of the weapons used by our military, which are Ukrainian-made and demonstrate high quality and advanced features,” the president stated.
He also highlighted strategic goals, particularly the development of Ukrainian air defense systems of various types, in cooperation with other nations.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine aims to become even more independent in the production of weapons, ensuring its national security and the safety of its citizens through self-sufficiency in defense capabilities.
