Canada Calls for Increased Pressure on Russia: Putin Has Not Yet Accepted the Need for Peace
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has once again emphasized his country’s firm stance on the ongoing conflict involving Ukraine and Russia.
According to him, the global community and Ukrainian armed forces must work in a coordinated and decisive manner to exert maximum pressure on Russia in order to achieve the long-awaited peace.
Carney highlighted that Vladimir Putin, the leader of the Kremlin, is not yet ready to accept the necessity of peace, and he remains the main culprit behind this war, as well as responsible for numerous crimes and human tragedies in the region.
He stated that Russia does not have the right to dictate peace terms — its actions should be met with increasingly severe sanctions, continued supply of modern weapons to the Ukrainian military, and comprehensive support for Ukraine even after active hostilities cease.
Carney mentioned that allies are currently preparing a new round of sanctions.
It’s also noteworthy that, in the diplomatic arena, discussions are ongoing about the role of countries like India in helping to bring an end to the war and promoting peace efforts.
The EU plans to strengthen cooperation in defense industry matters and intensify military assistance to Ukraine.
Additionally, it is significant that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a phone conversation with U.S.
Vice President Joe Biden to discuss joint efforts to escalate sanctions against Russia.
All these developments reflect a united international stance in supporting Ukraine and countering Kremlin aggression.
