Trump Expresses Hope for Diplomatic Resolution Between Kyiv and Moscow: Complexity of the Russian Issue and His Approach to Diplomacy
Former U.S.
President Donald Trump, one of the most influential figures on the international stage, recently made a statement that garnered significant attention.
In an interview with CBS News, he revealed that although he initially believed the Russian crisis to be the easiest to resolve among all the international conflicts he had faced, in reality, the situation proved to be much more complex than expected.
Trump emphasized his continued readiness to assist in finding a peaceful solution, subtly hinting that negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are still possible.
According to the former White House chief, he is closely monitoring developments around these two leaders and actively discussing the situation with both.
“I am observing it, seeing how they behave, and communicating with Putin and Zelensky,” Trump stated.
He assured that “something will happen,” but that the parties are not yet prepared; nevertheless, “we will make it happen.” In his comments, he also highlighted that despite the ongoing bloody battles and Russia’s missile strikes on civilian targets, he remains committed to achieving peace and advocates for a peace agreement.
Trump’s diplomatic approach involves gathering all leaders in one room to negotiate and work toward signing an agreement in real-time, often under his guidance.
He noted that this method has historically helped resolve conflicts swiftly.Regarding patience in diplomatic negotiations, he said: “Of course, it means waiting until the situation becomes more favorable.
But I believe it’s worth the wait.” He added that when leaders are in the same room and have the chance to discuss directly, they often find common solutions, which can save millions of lives.
“We have accomplished a lot, and I’m confident we will do more,” Trump concluded. He has previously expressed frustration with Putin’s actions and announced possible “certain steps” in response.
He also emphasized his keen eye on Ukraine and Russia’s developments, reiterating that ending the war and preventing human suffering remain his top priorities.
