European Countries Form Major Security Coalition to Support Ukraine

Chas Pravdy - 04 September 2025 18:32

Amid ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict, countries across Europe have intensified efforts to establish a comprehensive security framework within a joint coalition aimed at supporting Ukraine in its fight for independence and territorial integrity.

In this initiative, 35 European nations have united to develop and agree upon political and military support packages for Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that these countries have already drafted clear military plans, approved at the defense ministers level, awaiting political endorsement.

Notably, there are no restrictions on the size or the capacity for Ukraine’s military restoration—on the contrary, 26 states are prepared to send troops or provide air and sea support.

Macron also indicated that the United States will soon define the scope of its participation, including support for air defense systems, intelligence, and aerial protection.

Security guarantees will come into effect on the day a peace agreement is signed—this is aimed at establishing a long-lasting and stable peace in the region.

This is the first large-scale European security plan for Ukraine, serving as a potential foundation for future peace, Macron emphasized.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg added that during the upcoming coalition summit, clarity on the security guarantees Europe can offer Kyiv post-conflict is expected to be clarified.
