Conor McGregor Announces His Intent to Run for President of Ireland: Will He Become a New Political Star?

The world-famous UFC fighter and one of the brightest stars in mixed martial arts, Conor McGregor, has made a surprising announcement about his political ambitions.

Through his official social media channels, he declared his intention to participate in the upcoming presidential elections in Ireland.

McGregor stated that the time for genuine change has come and urged his supporters to contact local representatives to support his candidacy.The 37-year-old Irish fighter gained immense popularity not only for his unmatched fighting style but also for the titles he held in the lightweight and featherweight divisions.

His last fight took place in July 2021, during which he suffered a leg fracture and was defeated by Dustin Poirier.

His MMA record includes 28 fights, with 22 wins and 6 losses.

Besides MMA, McGregor also competed in a professional boxing match and lost to Floyd Mayweather in 2016.The Irish presidential elections are scheduled for autumn 2025.

The president is elected by a nationwide vote for a seven-year term.

The current president, Michael Higgins, has been in office since 2011.An additional surprise was the revelation that last year, McGregor was found guilty in a case related to assault, which has added hurdles to his political aspirations.
