Zelensky announces additional air defense systems from Nordic countries and the Baltics for Ukraine’s winter protection
Ukraine is preparing for a challenging winter period marked by anticipated Russian attacks.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, announced that Ukraine will receive additional air defense systems from Nordic countries and Baltic states, aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities during the winter months.
According to Zelensky, the Kremlin intends to use the cold season as a weapon, attempting to complicate Ukrainian life and intensify missile strikes.
Ukraine, in turn, is determined to be prepared and plans to boost its defensive capacity to avoid large-scale destructions and casualties.
“These additional air defense systems will be crucial in preventing Russian missile attacks and saving more lives,” Zelensky stated.
“Partnership with Nordic countries and the Baltics will allow us to reinforce our defense and ensure the country’s security in the face of possible winter aggression.” In his speech, the president stressed the importance of having sufficient resources to counter the enemy, as Putin hopes that winter frosts will force Ukrainians to surrender.
“We cannot let Russian troops gain an advantage through winter and cold, so strengthening air defense is our main task,” Zelensky emphasized.
He also mentioned the upcoming meeting of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ in Paris on September 4, which was attended by representatives from various countries, including Portugal, with reports of U.S.
President Donald Trump potentially participating.
This demonstrates the growing international support for Ukraine in its fight for security and sovereignty during these difficult times.
