Ukrainian Foreign Minister Reacts to Putin’s Comments on Possible Meeting with Zelensky in Moscow
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha recently responded to statements made by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, aiming to create an illusion of a potential meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Moscow.
According to the minister, such statements are primarily part of a manipulative information campaign designed to spread disinformation and artificially escalate tensions around Ukrainian-Russian negotiations.
Sybiha emphasized that at least seven countries are currently ready to take steps toward peaceful resolution of the war — including Austria, Vatican, Switzerland, Turkey, and three Gulf countries.
He stated that President Zelensky is fully open to such a meeting and prepared to engage in dialogue at any moment, but underlined that Russia continues to manipulate by proposing unacceptable and deliberately provocative conditions.
Only increased external pressure and diplomatic efforts can compel Moscow to take the peace process seriously.
Experts highlight the importance of united international pressure on Russia to end the war and create conducive conditions for dialogue and peaceful resolution.
Additionally, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit recently concluded in Tianjin, with Russian President Vladimir Putin in attendance.
Despite optimistic rhetoric from Russian diplomats and claims of a ‘diplomatic victory,’ the final Tianjin declaration made no references to the war in Ukraine.
This indicates that Moscow failed to persuade other participants, including China and India, to support its stance.
Consequently, Russia received no additional international backing for its invasion, signaling increased isolation and diplomatic setbacks for Moscow.
