Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recently drew international attention with her remarks regarding Ukraine’s role in the current European security architecture.

During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, she emphasized that Ukraine’s ongoing struggle is far more significant than domestic conflict — it shapes the future stability and security of the entire European continent.

According to her, Ukraine is not only fighting for itself but also for the security of all Europe, making continued support essential.

She highlighted that the most critical element for ensuring Ukraine’s long-term security is the development of a strong military — well-equipped, highly trained, and professionally prepared.Frederiksen also pointed out the importance of additional security guarantees for Ukraine, which are slated to be discussed at the upcoming coalition meeting on September 4.

She stressed that supporting Ukraine is tantamount to safeguarding democracy and stability across Europe.

Furthermore, she expressed confidence that these guarantees must be legally binding and contain concrete commitments, ensuring lasting security.Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine already has a solid foundation for security guarantees through bilateral agreements with individual countries.

However, he emphasized the necessity for these guarantees to be legally binding.

Zelensky believes that only clearly defined and legally secured guarantees can guarantee Ukraine’s future and stably uphold peace in the region.Ukraine’s role in the European security system has become a key topic in international discussions, as its ongoing resistance and Western support influence future security policies on the continent.

It is expected that upcoming meetings will present specific plans and measures to strengthen security guarantees, fostering stability and peace in the years ahead.
