Putin publicly discusses potential peaceful settlement and warns of continued military actions in Ukraine
Recent statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin have signaled a cautious openness to ending the war in Ukraine on mutually acceptable terms.
In his remarks, he expressed the possibility of reaching a compromise that would satisfy both sides, but also warned that if no such agreement is achieved, Russia will continue to pursue its military objectives.
Putin mentioned that there is some «light at the end of the tunnel» regarding the situation and indicated that «we’ll see how things develop» and «if not, we will have to resolve all issues by military means.» He also pointed to the positive trends within the United States, particularly under the leadership of Donald Trump, emphasizing that there is a genuine desire to find a resolution to the conflict.
Nonetheless, he stressed that in the absence of diplomatic agreements, Russia will resort to military actions to realize its goals, implying a possible escalation of hostilities if diplomatic efforts fail.
