NATO Affirms Unwavering Support for Ukraine Amid Massive Russian Attacks on Civilian Cities

Chas Pravdy - 02 September 2025 01:25

Following a series of massive and destructive missile and artillery strikes by Russia targeting civilian infrastructure and residential neighborhoods across Ukrainian cities, NATO member states have jointly reaffirmed their steadfast and unconditional support for Ukraine’s struggle for independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

During the Ukraine–NATO Council meeting held in an online format, Ukrainian representatives — Deputy Minister of Defense Serhii Boiev and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksii Serhiiiev — provided detailed updates on the current front-line situation and the extent of destruction caused by Russian attacks.

They also warned allies about emerging tactical schemes and potential threats that are developing on a larger scale.

Serhiiiev highlighted significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage, while Boiev emphasized that Moscow is increasing its production of weapons, including cruise missiles, drones, and artillery, with substantial support from Iran and North Korea.

In response, NATO underscored its readiness to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems, including Patriot complexes and missile systems, as well as long-range rockets to help deter further aggression.

Condemning mass strikes on civilian objects, alliance members pointed out that such actions reflect Moscow’s refusal to seek diplomatic solutions.

At the same time, NATO allies assured that they will continue to intensify pressure on Russia and deliver timely military aid to Ukraine to facilitate its victory and regain control over occupied territories.

Additionally, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced that President Trump plans to review efforts to escalate sanctions and pressure on Russia this week, aiming to accelerate de-escalation of the conflict.
