Sviridenko Discusses Security Guarantees and Strategic Resources with U.S. Representative

Chas Pravdy - 25 August 2025 00:23

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko recently held a significant meeting with U.S.

Special Envoy Keith Kellogg, during which primary topics included security guarantees for Ukraine and the management of strategic mineral resources.

Against the backdrop of ongoing armed conflict and occupation processes in eastern Ukraine, the issue of strategic resources—especially those that Russia is attempting to access through occupied territories—received particular attention.

The discussions emphasized the need for effective and tangible security guarantees based on the UN Charter and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty.

It was highlighted that support should not only be military but also involve strengthening political stability and economic resilience.

Sviridenko stressed that the strongest shield for Ukraine is a modern, well-equipped military and a robust economy.

The government’s priorities include industrial development, modernization of production capacities, and the return of all illegally deported and imprisoned citizens, including children.

Additionally, she pointed out the problem of critical mineral extraction and industrial sites, which Russia seeks to exploit on occupied lands.

She insisted that the extraction and trade of these resources must remain within legal boundaries and under Ukraine’s control.

According to her, the United States sees great potential in cooperation with Ukraine—ranging from investments and technological partnerships to participating in post-war recovery efforts.

One of the key areas is the development of unmanned technologies, which significantly influence the course of the conflict.

Sviridenko also expressed gratitude to Kellogg for his consistent support and reassured that cooperation with the U.S.

provides Ukraine with confidence in the future.

Earlier, Kellogg and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga discussed conditions for ending the war and pathways toward peace.
