Ukrainians’ perceptions of U.S. leadership plummet: Gallup survey results for 2025

Chas Pravdy - 07 August 2025 14:43

Recently, Ukrainian society has demonstrated a significant increase in disillusionment with American leadership.

According to Gallup survey data for 2025, the approval rating of U.S.

leadership among Ukrainians has dropped to its lowest in over a decade, raising serious questions about trust levels and bilateral cooperation.

Only 16% of Ukrainian respondents expressed positive attitudes towards U.S.

actions, while 73% viewed them negatively.

This is a sharp decline from 2022, when support for the U.S.

reached as high as 66%.

Meanwhile, Ukrainians still prioritize the role of the U.S.

in peace negotiations, with nearly 70% supporting this idea, a figure comparable to opinions about the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Despite declining support for the U.S., trust in Germany has increased significantly—from 46% in 2022 to 63% in 2025—indicating growing confidence in European partners.

Another survey conducted in July revealed that the majority of Ukrainians expect at least partial military support from the United States.

In the broader context of international relations, it is noteworthy that the Kremlin announced agreements with Washington regarding a forthcoming meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump scheduled to occur soon, an event that could substantially influence the global political landscape.
