EU Commission Discusses Path to Peace in Ukraine and Future EU Membership
On Thursday, a telephone conversation took place between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which key issues concerning the future peace and stability of Ukraine were discussed.
Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the European Union remains committed to supporting Ukraine in its fight and is determined to find a just and lasting peace.
The leaders also discussed the prospects of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and the country’s post-war reconstruction.
According to the head of the European Commission, both sides addressed the necessary next steps towards reaching an agreed peaceful settlement and explored Ukraine’s future within the EU.
Highlighting Europe’s support, von der Leyen stated that the EU will intensify its efforts to ensure sustainable peace and development, expressing confidence in Ukraine’s capability to join the European family.
