Criminal Investigations Deepen as New Suspicions Surface: Details of Raids on Chernyshov and Reznikov Cases

Chas Pravdy - 07 August 2025 18:54

In the investigative chambers of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), thorough examinations continue into cases involving high-ranking officials.

Specifically, the former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov is under suspicion for abuse of power and receiving illicit gains exceeding 14.5 million hryvnias.

According to SAP Head Oleksandr Klimenko, the number of episodes related to this case far exceeds publicly known information, and all are currently under investigation.

Official updates will be provided once sufficient evidence is collected through NABU and SAP channels.

At the same time, Klimenko refrained from commenting on covert conversations held five years ago in Timur Mindich’s apartment, where a presidential birthday celebration and political discussions took place.

Consequently, questions regarding Mindich’s possible suspicion, his travel abroad, and related matters remain unanswered officially.

However, insights can be inferred through careful reading of statements.

For instance, conversations recorded at the address where the birthday was celebrated five years ago confirm investigations involving Mindich, according to journalistic sources.

Regarding the case of former Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, who recently underwent searches and whose phone was confiscated, Klimenko confirmed the investigative actions but advised caution in drawing conclusions about the evidentiary value of the seized materials.

“We are conducting numerous investigations related to procurement during Reznikov’s tenure, and we consider all versions.

We verify everyone involved in various procurement schemes,” he said.

Recall that on July 3, ZN.UA sources reported NABU raids on the former defense minister, likely connected to procurement of military supplies at inflated prices.

These investigations probably involve illicit procurement schemes during wartime, focusing on embezzlement and misuse of funds allocated for food supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
