Ukrainian experts warn: ‘Air Ceasefire’ trap may pose future security threats for the country
The Center for Counteracting Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (CRODIS) has emphasized that the proposed idea of an ‘air ceasefire,’ reportedly considered by Russia, is a classic trap designed to create an illusion of peace while pursuing strategic objectives.
According to Bloomberg reports, Moscow might declare a so-called ‘pause in air combat’ to avoid U.S.
tariffs and restrictions, while secretly consolidating resources ahead of new offensive actions.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the center, shared via his Telegram channel that this notion is misleading and dangerous, noting that the Kremlin has no intention of ending the war.
Instead, Russia seeks to prolong the conflict to prevent ‘painful strikes’ on its territory and to reduce the intensity of air assaults on Ukrainian civil infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian armed forces continue to demonstrate higher precision and success in their targeted attacks, serving as a strong counterargument to the idea of a ‘ceasefire.’ Kovalenko stressed that Russia’s goal in announcing a ‘air ceasefire’ is to gather substantial resources, reinforce its forces, and avoid further sanctions, all while preparing for renewed aggression.
He reiterated Ukraine’s firm stance demanding a complete ceasefire and meetings between national leaders to resolve the conflict diplomatically.
Additionally, it is notable that today in Moscow, Steve Vickoff, a former special envoy to Donald Trump, arrived in the Russian capital.
According to The Telegraph, Putin plans to exploit this meeting as another opportunity to buy time, delay peace negotiations, and strengthen his position through diplomatic maneuvering that could lead to further aggression.
