Washington has taken a significant step in bolstering Ukraine’s defense by officially approving a contract worth over $200 million for maintenance and repair services related to military equipment.

The U.S.

Department of State authorized a comprehensive package that grants Ukraine access to a wide range of logistical, repair, and technical services for the M777 howitzers, which are crucial components of its military arsenal.

The total value of the agreement exceeds $203 million, with $104 million allocated for the supply of military hardware and maintenance services, while the remaining $99.5 million is designated for transportation and logistical support.

The primary contractor for the first contract will be BAE Systems, a British defense industry leader renowned for its advanced military solutions.

The second contract involves U.S.

approved suppliers for transportation and logistical operations.

Pentagon officials emphasize that there are currently no information regarding any compensation agreements associated with this deal.

An official statement highlighted that this agreement aligns with U.S.

foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a partner nation that serves as a vital pillar for stability and economic progress in Europe.

This support follows earlier actions in July, when the U.S.

Senate approved a $500 million allocation for Ukraine’s defense assistance under the 2026 fiscal year defense budget.

Later in July, the U.S.

State Department approved an additional two military aid packages worth over $322 million, including Patriot missile systems and other military equipment.

Moreover, former President Trump announced plans to supply Ukraine with up to 17 Patriot surface-to-air missile systems in the near future, further strengthening its defensive capabilities.
