U.S. approves new military contracts for Ukraine: over $200 million for equipment repair and maintenance
On Tuesday, the Pentagon announced that the U.S.
Department of State has approved two significant contracts under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program aimed at supporting Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself.
These contracts focus on providing repair, maintenance, and transportation services for Ukrainian military equipment.
The total value of these new agreements exceeds $200 million, highlighting ongoing U.S.
efforts to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing conflicts.According to the statement, the first contract, valued at $104 million, covers repair services and technical support for M777 artillery howitzers, a vital element of Ukraine’s artillery forces.
The main contractor for this project will be BAE Systems, a leading defense company capable of ensuring high-quality service and support.
Additionally, a second contract for nearly $100 million will cover transportation and logistical services necessary for the prompt delivery and servicing of military hardware across Ukraine.
The main contractor for these logistical services will be selected from the approved pool of suppliers.Recent months have seen an increase in U.S.
military aid to Ukraine, including the approval of several aid packages totaling over $300 million.
Recently, the United States also approved the sale of equipment and services supporting Ukrainian air defense systems already in use, marking a significant step in strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
