Budanov warns: Excessive interest in military secrets can cost Ukrainian defenders’ lives

Chas Pravdy - 06 August 2025 07:26

Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, has once again emphasized the critical importance of caution in sharing classified information regarding ongoing combat operations and weapon deliveries.

According to him, an overactive curiosity and careless disclosure of details can lead to tragic consequences for Ukrainian soldiers, including fatalities.

Budanov pointed out that public statements about enemy movements or intentions often become direct causes of the deaths of our servicemen, urging everyone to act more responsibly and cautiously.

He also warned against the potential ‘Georgian scenario’, cautioning that leaks of information could aid the enemy’s deadly plans.

In his view, the adversary currently does not have new strategic designs, and speculations about large-scale offensives are part of a misinformation campaign aimed at intimidating the population and Western allies.

Budanov assured that the main goal of the enemy is to seize control over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as ambitions to expand into Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, although they have yet to succeed.

Additionally, the general confirmed that the situation regarding invasion corridors remains tense and depends on political decisions made in Russia.

He concluded by emphasizing that every Ukrainian must understand their responsibility and be prepared to defend the country at a moment’s notice, since national security is the primary duty of every citizen.
