Zelensky Announces Major Funding Increase for Drone and Military Equipment Procurement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a significant step forward in bolstering the country’s military capabilities by allocating increased financial resources for the procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
In his message on Telegram, he emphasized that the government has received instructions to substantially expand direct funding to military brigades specifically for purchasing drones, noting that the funds are already available.
This move aims to accelerate equipping Ukrainian forces with cutting-edge technology to enhance their combat effectiveness.Zelensky also highlighted the need to simplify procurement procedures for units, including the acquisition of pickups, to ensure rapid deployment of vehicles as needed.
He stressed that soldiers must be given the opportunity to select equipment that best suits their operational requirements and obtain it swiftly.Furthermore, the president stressed that the training of Ukrainian soldiers should go beyond theoretical knowledge, emphasizing the importance of gaining real combat experience, especially considering current warfare realities.
He acknowledged improvements in training centers but pointed out the necessity to further enhance both combat and psychological preparation to boost soldiers’ motivation and readiness.Another critical aspect discussed was the expansion of the military contract program for young men aged 18 to 24.
Zelensky said that the Defense Ministry and General Staff have explored various options to raise the age limits and adjust conditions for signing contracts.
They are expected to present detailed plans to the public to improve logistics and personnel recruitment.Earlier, at the end of June, Zelensky stated that Ukraine has the potential to produce around eight million drones annually of various types, but financial constraints and resource limitations hinder full realization of this capacity.
