Declining Trust in the Democratic Party: Survey Reveals Growing Pessimism Among Supporters

Chas Pravdy - 05 August 2025 02:20

Recent surveys of American citizens indicate an increasing level of dissatisfaction among supporters of the Democratic Party, with many describing their political affiliation as 'weak,' 'ineffective,' or even 'indifferent.' This trend reflects a growing sense of disillusionment among voters.

According to joint research conducted by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, over one-third of Democrats—approximately 35%—used negative descriptors when asked to characterize their party.

About 15% described it as 'weak' or 'indifferent,' while another 10% labeled it 'ineffective' or 'disorganized.' Only 23% of Democrats expressed positive opinions about their party.

Conversely, Republicans tend to have a more favorable view of their political alignment: 41% describe their party with words like 'patriotic,' 'hardworking,' or 'defenders of freedom,' whereas only 19% of Republicans view their party negatively, using terms such as 'greedy,' 'corrupt,' or 'for the wealthy.' Additionally, roughly a third of responses from both sides are categorized as 'others,' and nearly 10% of respondents couldn't specify their opinion.

These findings suggest increasing polarization and a rising level of dissatisfaction among the American electorate.

Against this background, concerns mount over the country's political situation and uncertain future.

With President Trump’s approval ratings falling, most Americans believe that the US is heading down the wrong path, deepening the country’s political crisis.
