Following this trip, he announced an urgent gathering of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, scheduled for the very next day.
The primary goal of this meeting is to analyze the current military situation and make critical decisions regarding strategic defense measures, including strengthening financial support to military units.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of direct funding for combat units, enabling prompt procurement of drones, pickups, and other equipment vital for increasing Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
He noted that despite legal and bureaucratic hurdles, the government is actively working on streamlining procedures to grant brigades greater autonomy in managing allocated funds.
During the visit, the President also highlighted the development of military contracts, aiming to make the system more flexible and effective based on the experience gained from short-term contracts lasting 18–24 months.
Although some details of conversations with military commanders will remain confidential, Zelensky assured that their insights would inform future decisions.
Special attention was given to supporting Ukraine’s eastern regions, including frontline communities and border areas, with plans to create favorable conditions for local businesses, preserving production and jobs in these critical zones.
He further shared that he has already discussed specific measures with Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and expects her report with detailed plans for supporting border territories.
Notably, the President also visited Kharkiv region, meeting with Ukrainian defenders in the Wovchansk district, where Ukrainian troops hold the line against Russian advances.
