VACC Court Sentences People’s Deputy Kuznietsov to Two Months’ Detention in Corruption Case
On Monday, August 4, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine issued a ruling to remand People's Deputy Oleksii Kuznietsov into custody for 60 days.
The MP from the Servant of the People faction was detained two days earlier, on August 2, during an operation carried out by NABU and the SAP, in connection with an investigation into a corruption scheme involving illegal procurement of drones and radio-electronic warfare equipment for military use.
The court's decision means that Kuznietsov will remain in custody during the investigation and the subsequent criminal proceedings.
Official sources highlight that this measure is part of Ukraine’s broader efforts to combat corruption, especially within military and defense sectors.
The detention of Kuznietsov, a member of Parliament, has sparked extensive public and political reactions, including among opposition groups and government supporters, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in national security procurement processes.
