U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine Expected in Kyiv at Week’s End: Details and Diplomatic Implications
At the end of this week, Kyiv is set to welcome an important diplomatic guest — the special envoy of the U.S.
President on Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg.
According to sources within the Ukrainian media, citing the presidential team, he is scheduled to arrive in the Ukrainian capital towards the end of the working week.
During his visit, he is expected to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss current cooperation issues, support strategies, and security challenges facing Ukraine amid ongoing conflict.
The visit holds particular significance given the tense situation on Ukraine's eastern front and recent diplomatic gestures and statements.
Additionally, around the same period, on Wednesday or Thursday, the special envoy for Middle East affairs, Steve Vickoff, is anticipated to visit Russia.
Moreover, on July 31, former U.S.
President Donald Trump issued a high-profile warning, threatening sanctions against Russian leader Vladimir Putin if no agreements are reached to end the war in Ukraine by August 8.
In response, Russian Security Council Deputy Dmitry Medvedev threatened the United States with war.
On August 1, Trump announced on Truth Social that he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be moved closer to Russia, should Medvedev's provocative statements prove to be more than mere words.
The following day, August 2, Trump stated that the submarines are already in the sea, closer to Russian shores, escalating international tensions and security concerns.
