Trump voters see Russia as a major threat and support sanctions, survey shows
According to recent survey results, a significant majority of supporters of former U.S.
President Donald Trump express clear backing for imposing strict sanctions against the Russian Federation.
The survey reveals that Americans perceive Russia as the primary threat to national security, primarily due to its negative influence on Ukraine and its active military and diplomatic maneuvers.
Conducted by the sociological firm TargetPoint for the non-party conservative organization The Vandenberg Coalition, the poll indicates that over 85% of Trump’s supporters consider Russia dangerous to the United States.
The participants largely endorse the doctrine of “peace through strength,” believing that a strong America equals a secure America, and that Russia and its adversaries must be held accountable for their aggressive actions.
Furthermore, 87% of respondents identified Russia as a major threat to U.S.
security, while 74% believe the possibility of Russian military incursions into other countries exists.
The survey also notes that 88% of those surveyed are at least moderately concerned about potential collaboration between Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, with 65% expressing significant or extreme worry about their alliances.
A majority of respondents (57%) blame Vladimir Putin for the lack of peace efforts in Ukraine, and 76% support sanctions on Russian oil exports.
It is noteworthy that Trump has repeatedly threatened to impose secondary tariffs on Russian oil imports and has increasingly criticized Putin and Russia’s actions in general, indicating that his supporters may continue to favor a stance of pressure and firmness.
