Ukrainian President Zelensky Imposes New Sanctions Against Russia’s Shadow Fleet and Its Associated Companies
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently signed a presidential decree marking a new phase in the country's efforts to combat Russia's shadow fleet and affiliated structures.
According to official sources, these sanctions result from coordinated actions by Ukrainian and international security agencies and jurisdictions.
They aim to disrupt covert operations of Russian ships used for export and import activities, circumventing international restrictions.
Notably, the new sanctions list includes 94 individuals, among them citizens of Russia, India, Georgia, Bangladesh, and China, as well as several linked companies such as "Argo Tanker Group," "Gazpromneft Shipping," and others.
The application of these restrictive measures seeks to hinder the activities of vessels involved in clandestine transportation of Russian oil and resources, while also increasing international pressure on the aggressor country.
During a recent telephone meeting, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has prepared three additional sanctions packages, with the first already implemented, and all will be coordinated with partners for maximum impact and effective cooperation.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is also tasked with actively informing European, American, and other international bodies about the sanctions and advocating for the adoption of similar measures globally.
The decree also stipulates that Ukrainian authorities will notify the EU, the US, and others about the sanctions to ensure harmonization.
These measures are complemented by sanctions targeting several Russian companies, such as "Gazpromneft Shipping" and others involved in the black fleet and illegal shipments.
Overall, these initiatives aim to significantly complicate logistics and hide Russian oil and resources, while strengthening international coordination in combating Russian aggression.
