Zelensky Urges Putin to Move Beyond Words and Hold a Summit at the Highest Level
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a call to the Russian side to transition from continuous statements and technical negotiations to a direct summit between the leaders of the two nations.
According to the leader of Ukraine, there is an urgent need for serious dialogue at the highest level, as only such a meeting can bring about long-term solutions and put an end to the ongoing conflict that has lasted over a year.
Zelensky pointed out that exchanging slogans and holding formal meetings at lower levels are ineffective, emphasizing that real resolution can only be achieved through direct talks between the heads of state.
In his statement, he stressed, 'We hear statements from Russia, and if this is a signal of their genuine readiness to end the war honorably and establish lasting peace, rather than just trying to buy time for continued conflict and sanctions delays, Ukraine is ready.
We fully support and strongly urge a summit at the highest level whenever Russia is prepared.
We understand who makes decisions in Russia and who must bring an end to this conflict.
The time for serious negotiations is now.' Zelensky also expressed his support for efforts by U.S.
President Donald Trump in seeking the right path toward ending the war, adding his gratitude to the global community that assists Ukraine in defending its people and striving for peace.
He highlighted, 'We are grateful to everyone supporting us in this fight and providing aid to establish a just and lasting peace in our country.'
