Trump Shares Interpretation of Russia and Ukraine Casualties: Numbers and Political Context
Former U.S.
President Donald Trump made a surprising statement regarding the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
According to him, Russia has suffered significant losses since the beginning of this year, losing over 112,500 soldiers.
During the same period, Ukraine, he estimates, has lost about 8,000 defenders, a figure he emphasizes does not include missing personnel.
This scale of losses, Trump says, demonstrates a noticeable imbalance in the military capabilities of the two sides. The American politician mentioned data indicating that Russian forces have lost nearly 20,000 personnel in the past month alone.
This, experts suggest, reflects the high price Russia is paying for conducting this war — many of these deaths, he claims, are "unnecessary and avoidable." He also highlighted that Ukraine has suffered substantial civilian casualties, especially as Russian rockets increasingly target Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, leading to destruction and tragedy.Trump stressed that this war is a tragedy that should not exist in the modern world.
He claims it is the result of President Biden’s policies, and perhaps driven by political motives, implying that the current U.S.
administration should have taken steps to prevent the conflict.
He continues to assert that his goal is to end hostilities and stop human losses.Previously, Trump criticized Russia’s attack on Kyiv during the night of July 30-31, calling these actions "disgusting" and unacceptable in today’s world.
He also announced that new sanctions against Russia, aimed at curbing aggression, will be implemented after the 10-day response period set by Moscow expires — specifically, after August 8.
He believes this will send a strong signal to the international community that the U.S.
remains committed to Ukraine, supporting sanctions and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
