Ukrainian MP Dmitro Kostyuk Announces Departure from ‘Servant of the People’ Party Over Reforms to Anti-Corruption Agencies

Chas Pravdy - 31 July 2025 13:34

Dmytro Kostyuk, a member of Ukraine's parliament, has publicly declared his decision to leave the 'Servant of the People' faction in the Verkhovna Rada.
The primary reason for this move was his opposition to a recent legislative vote which, in his view, dangerously compromises the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO).
This statement was made during a parliamentary meeting held on July 31.
In his speech, Kostyuk emphasized that his resignation was a reaction to his colleagues' support for amendments that threaten the integrity of Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure.
He reaffirmed his commitment to Ukraine’s European aspirations and the principles of the Revolution of Dignity, which, at a significant cost, including the lives of many brave compatriots, established the country's path toward civilization and democratic development.
He expressed willingness to support the presidential bill aimed at restoring the autonomy of NABU and SAPO, while also advocating for the preservation of initial legal principles ensuring that these agencies remain independent from political interference, including influence from the General Prosecutor.
