Ruslan Stefanchuk Announces When the Ukrainian Parliament Will Resume Live Broadcasts of Sessions

Chas Pravdy - 30 July 2025 19:53

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has made an important and transparent statement regarding the resumption of online broadcasts of parliamentary sessions.
He emphasized that the decision to stop live broadcasts was driven by security concerns amid the ongoing war that started in 2022 and continues today.
According to the speaker, since the full-scale invasion began, the parliament ceased live streaming to minimize potential risks to deputies and staff.
However, he also stressed that this measure was temporary and taken in response to the crisis, with plans underway to create a special legislative package that will enable the resumption of digital broadcasts once the security situation improves.
Stefanchuk highlighted that the core principles of transparency and openness remain critical for the Ukrainian parliament.
While the current security conditions limit live online sessions, the parliament intends to stay accessible and transparent to every Ukrainian citizen.
Public organizations and independent media have been vocal in urging the Verkhovna Rada to restore online hearings, especially ahead of critical legislative debates, including the bills concerning the independence of anti-corruption agencies.
Furthermore, MP Yaroslav Yurchyshyn has registered a draft law aimed at ensuring the re-establishment of live online sessions, which is seen as a step toward strengthening accountability, transparency, and public trust in the government.
The upcoming legislative initiatives promise to transform parliamentary openness, bringing the Ukrainian people's voice closer and fostering a more transparent political environment.
