China Gradually Overtaking America: An Analysis of Current Geopolitical and Economic Challenges

Chas Pravdy - 30 July 2025 12:46

In today’s world, China is rapidly advancing as a global superpower, gradually competing with the traditional leader — the United States.
This is no coincidence but a result of a deliberate strategy initiated during the days of Deng Xiaoping and later intensified under Xi Jinping.
Over the past decade, China has made significant progress in military, economic, scientific, and technological fields, raising serious concerns in Washington and among its allies.
Experts note that Beijing is not only aiming to catch up with the US in key sectors but also actively shaping new standards and global norms by controlling over 70% of the world's rare earth elements and investing substantial resources in the development of advanced technologies such as quantum computing, electric vehicles, and robotics.
Meanwhile, US policies focusing on strengthening alliances and innovation are weakening under internal and external pressures.
Moreover, reductions in funding for fundamental research, neglecting global innovation trends, and dilapidated diplomatic strategies put the US in a vulnerable position in the battle for global dominance.
If this trend continues, China is poised to surpass the US in influence and technological supremacy.
Therefore, a critical task today involves revitalizing the national innovation system, fostering strategic partnerships, and restoring global prestige through active research and technological advancement.
