Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry vehemently condemns African ambassadors’ visit to occupied Crimea, urges respect for international law

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has issued a strong condemnation of the recent visit by representatives of African countries — ambassadors from Rwanda, Guinea, and Chad — to the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula.
This visit has sparked sharp criticism from Kyiv, as it blatantly violates international agreements and United Nations resolutions, particularly UN General Assembly Resolution 68/262 on Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Ukrainian diplomats argue that such actions constitute a blatant disregard for international law and Ukraine's sovereignty, and are exploited by Russia to propagate false narratives and create an illusion of legitimacy regarding the occupation of the peninsula.
The MFA emphasized that these steps undermine the efforts of the international community aimed at restoring justice and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, violating established norms and potentially serving as a cover for Russian criminal activities.
They called on foreign diplomats to adhere strictly to international legislation, respect Ukraine's internationally recognized borders, and refrain from actions that could be perceived as approval of Russia’s illegal activities.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the governments of the involved countries will properly evaluate these actions and take appropriate measures, including diplomatic responses and possibly sanctions against the ambassadors involved.
Additionally, Kyiv affirmed readiness to initiate measures such as sanctions and diplomatic responses to counter such actions.
Previously, Ukraine condemned a visit by Russian Federation Council head Valentina Matviyenko to Switzerland during the World Conference of Parliament Speakers, stating her actions support Russian aggression and are unacceptable in the context of international law.
