Ukraine’s New Cultural Leadership: Tetyana Berezhna Appointed Acting Minister Amid Structural Reforms
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a strategic decision to appoint Tetyana Berezhna, an experienced lawyer and former deputy Minister of Economy, as the temporary acting Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications.
This move is part of a large-scale government reform aimed at stabilizing the cultural sector during a period of transformation.
According to Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, the new acting head will ensure uninterrupted operations of the ministry, maintaining management stability, financial robustness, and fostering effective dialogue with cultural communities and international partners.
Her main tasks include conducting a comprehensive needs assessment within the industry, mobilizing additional resources, and strengthening cooperation with global organizations.
Berezhna’s extensive managerial background, particularly her previous work at the Ministry of Economy where she spearheaded reforms in labor and employment, integration of veterans, and repatriation of Ukrainian migrants, positions her well for these responsibilities.
She holds degrees from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and has participated in international internships and studies at the London School of Economics among others.
With over a decade of legal practice, primarily in tax law at leading international firms, Berezhna’s appointment aims to pave the way for a more resilient and resourceful cultural policy, attracting international aid and innovative initiatives.
The government also announced upcoming structural reforms, including merging ministries and redefining national communication strategies to strengthen state communication resilience amid external challenges.
