Graham asserts that Putin misjudged Trump’s stance and policies

Chas Pravdy - 28 July 2025 20:35

According to recent statements by American Republican senator Lindsey Graham, Russian President Vladimir Putin has seriously miscalculated his approach towards the current U.S.
president, Donald Trump.
Graham believes that Moscow's recent actions indicate a lack of genuine willingness to sit at the negotiation table and seek peaceful resolution to the conflict.
This is particularly relevant in light of Trump's announcement to shorten the deadlines for peace agreements in the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine—he promised to cut these timeframes down to approximately 10-12 days, raising additional tension in international circles.
The senator emphasized that Russia’s recent military and rhetorical actions suggest that the Kremlin has no real intention to achieve peace without additional efforts and concessions.
Graham highlighted that the United States is prepared to support President Trump’s efforts to bring the parties back to negotiations, hoping that countries supporting Russia, such as China, India, and Brazil, will soon realize the cost of their support and join the search for conflict resolution.
Meanwhile, many analysts note that Russia’s strategy and objectives remain unclear, with the global community urging diplomacy and peace preservation in the region.
