Accusations of Genocide in Gaza: Israeli Human Rights Groups Call for International Action

Chas Pravdy - 28 July 2025 16:35

Revelatory reports from two leading Israeli human rights organizations, B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights, have brought heightened global awareness to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
They assert that Israel's actions in the region bear the hallmarks of genocide.
According to these organizations, over nearly two years of military conflict, Israel has deliberately targeted and devastated the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza.
These actions include mass killings, forced displacements, destruction of homes and vital infrastructure, and the deprivation of access to healthcare, education, and basic human rights.
Both reports emphasize that these measures are not incidental or solely military necessities but form part of a systematic plan aimed at eradicating the Palestinian community.
The international community is urged to respond promptly, as ignoring these crimes could lead to further tragedies and increased loss of life.
Israel denies accusations of genocide, claiming its military operations are acts of self-defense following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths, most of whom were civilians.
Despite official denials, global advocates call for an impartial investigation, and Pope Francis has appealed for an international inquiry into potential genocide.
The reports detail numerous atrocities, including mass murders, starvation, forced relocations, and the destruction of critical infrastructure, leaving Palestinians without access to essential services.
Experts warn that the ongoing campaign in Gaza might escalate into a broader genocide affecting other Palestinian territories, raising serious concerns about international security and accountability.
The Gaza health ministry reports that the death toll since the conflict began has surpassed 59,000, with most victims being women and children, reflecting the dire humanitarian crisis unleashed by ongoing hostilities.
