Zelensky Imposes Extensive Sanctions Against Russian Defense Industry Entities and Associated Individuals and Companies

Chas Pravdy - 27 July 2025 16:40

As part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its economic and military defenses, President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a new decree instituting a comprehensive sanctions campaign targeting the Russian military-industrial complex and related companies with direct or indirect ties to this sector. This measure is a response to the escalating military aggression and Russia’s efforts to isolate Ukraine from global trade chains. The sanctions have affected nearly a hundred legal entities and individuals, including 45 Russian citizens and 50 companies that have actively cooperated with the Russian defense industry. The Zelensky order mandates the complete blocking of assets through legal measures, including a ban on handling any property owned by these individuals or organizations, regardless of ownership form. This entails stopping all trade operations, halting transit of resources and energy flows through Ukrainian territory, banning flights and other transports within the country. Additionally, sanctions include deprivation of state awards and removal of any official privileges, adding further pressure on Russian entities contributing to military aggression. This decision is part of Ukraine’s strategic efforts to intensify sanctions pressure and improve its security amid the current geopolitical tensions.
