U.S. Reminds Russia of Trump’s Ultimatum on Ukraine Peace and Raises Concerns Over China’s Dual-Use Goods Exports
During a Security Council meeting, representatives of the United States reiterated the earlier warning issued by former U.S.
President Donald Trump to Russia, demanding the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine within 50 days.
U.S.
Permanent Representative Dorothy Shi reminded the international community that back in July last year, Trump had pressed Vladimir Putin to reach a peace deal within this timeframe.
She emphasized that if Russia fails to comply and persists in its attacks, the U.S.
is prepared to implement additional measures to halt the conflict.
Shi also recalled that over 100 days ago, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution urging an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of durable peace, but progress remains slow.
She pointed out that Russian forces continue to target civilian populations—striking schools, playgrounds, apartment buildings, and elderly homes—while deploying thousands of North Korean soldiers and risking the lives of tens of thousands of Russian troops on the front lines.
A pressing issue highlighted was the ongoing export of dual-use goods from China to Russia, which bolster Russia’s military-industrial complex and enable attacks against peaceful Ukrainian cities.
Shi stated: “China’s claims of strict export controls are undermined by daily discoveries of Chinese components in drones, weapons, and vehicles used by Russia against Ukraine.” The U.S.
pledged to keep close watch on this matter and take further action to prevent escalation.
