US sharply criticizes Macron’s plans to recognize Palestinian state

Chas Pravdy - 25 July 2025 12:30

In response to reports about French President Emmanuel Macron’s intentions to recognize the Palestinian state, Washington issued a strong statement of concern and criticism.
The Trump administration, followed by the Biden administration, repeatedly emphasized support for Israeli sovereignty and called for diplomatic solutions to the conflict, opposing any steps that could escalate tensions.
US officials expressed fears that recognizing Palestine could provoke further instability in the region and bolster Hamas’s position.
The official stance highlights that such moves conflict with efforts to achieve a stable peace and facilitate diplomatic negotiations.
Meanwhile, France has intensified its diplomatic engagements with European and Middle Eastern partners, urging them to recognize Palestine—a move that could become a significant shift in regional dynamics.
To date, 146 countries have officially recognized Palestine, and France is poised to become the first G7 member to do so officially.
Concurrently, reports emerge from Israel about incidents such as the detention of an activist who threatened with a grenade launcher, illustrating the growing tension and complexity of the ongoing conflict.
