EU Commission Praises Zelensky’s Anti-Corruption Reforms but Urges for Consideration of Recommendations

Chas Pravdy - 24 July 2025 16:42

The European Commission has expressed a positive outlook regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent statements on reform initiatives aimed at strengthening anti-corruption institutions, specifically the NABU and SAP.
However, EU officials emphasize the importance of ensuring that all concerns and recommendations previously raised by Brussels are thoroughly integrated into Ukraine's ongoing efforts.
According to EU spokesperson Guillaume Merier, Brussels maintains an active dialogue with Kyiv to ensure commitments regarding the independence of anti-corruption agencies are fulfilled.
He highlighted the EU's ongoing concern over the situation and called for open, constructive communication to achieve tangible results in the fight against corruption, which remains a top priority for both sides.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian authorities have introduced several critical legislative proposals and initiatives targeting reforms in the judiciary and anti-corruption sectors.
International partners repeatedly stress the necessity of guaranteeing the independence and immunity of these bodies, a stance Ukraine continues to acknowledge and incorporate in its policies.
The ongoing collaboration between Ukraine and the EU demonstrates a mutual commitment to advancing reforms and monitoring their implementation.
The European Commission's deputy further stated that dialogue and mutual trust are fundamental to successfully integrating Ukraine into European structures.
