Zelensky Approves Delegation Composition for Upcoming Negotiations with Russia in Istanbul
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially approved the composition of Ukraine’s delegation for negotiations with Russian representatives scheduled to take place in Istanbul.
The relevant decree was published on the official website of the Ukrainian President’s Office on July 22.
Leading the delegation will be the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, who plays a key role in shaping the country’s foreign policy and ensuring national security during diplomatic talks.
The delegation includes high-ranking officials and experts representing crucial areas of Ukraine’s security and diplomacy: Advisor Oleksandr Bevz, Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksandr Dziakov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhii Kyslytsia, Human Rights Commissioner Yuriy Kovbasa, Protocol Officer of the Command Staff, and leaders from intelligence, special services, and law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Defense and other relevant bodies will participate, supporting Ukraine’s security and diplomatic efforts at the highest levels.
Meanwhile, the official date of the next round of negotiations has not yet been confirmed, although President Zelensky previously indicated that it could occur on July 23.
Reports from sources suggest that the Kremlin announced the Ukrainian delegation’s arrival in Istanbul on July 23, with negotiations possibly starting on July 24.
There is also information about a technical meeting scheduled for July 24 or 25 to prepare for the main talks.
President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s three main priorities for the upcoming negotiations are: the return of all prisoners, the repatriation of children abducted by Russia, and arranging a summit between the leaders of both countries.
These issues are central to efforts aimed at diplomatic resolution of the ongoing conflict, which has lasted over a year and has drawn international concern.
