Turkey Talks: Part of the Preparation for a Possible Meeting Between Zelensky and Putin
The Kremlin has officially stated that the ongoing negotiations in Istanbul serve not only to address current issues but are also a crucial component of strategic preparations for a potential future summit between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
Russian President’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that these diplomatic efforts are aimed at preparing for a possible meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Peskov, this process involves coordinating memoranda that could be signed during such a summit, as holding a meeting without proper groundwork would be unfeasible.
He further indicated that in upcoming rounds of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, the discussion will include draft documents concerning conflict resolution.
Peskov detailed that a significant part of the talks will focus on exchanging and refining the memorandums prepared during the second round of negotiations.
He acknowledged that the subject of these negotiations is quite complex, requiring meticulous preparatory work by the involved parties to reach common ground and establish an effective agenda for the potential summit.
The Kremlin’s official statements confirm that these negotiations are strategically aimed at creating a foundation for high-level talks, which are seen as essential steps toward peace and stabilization in the region.
