NABU and SAP Express Gratitude to Ukrainians for Support During Anti-Corruption Protest Actions
The teams of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) have sincerely expressed their gratitude to all Ukrainians who showed solidarity and support during large-scale protests held on July 22 across several Ukrainian cities.
These mass protests responded to the adoption of legislation that threatens to effectively undermine the independence of anti-corruption bodies and sets a dangerous precedent for Ukraine's legal framework.
NABU and SAP responded to these events through their official social media channels, emphasizing that the support received evokes deep gratitude and serves as a trust signal towards these institutions.
The agencies stated that they see this support as an important sign affirming their dedication in fighting corruption, urging the government and lawmakers not to betray these core values of independence.
Particular pride was drawn from the active participation of youth—the future of Ukraine—who stood in solidarity and participated actively in the protests.
For NABU and SAP, these words are a motivation to continue their unwavering efforts to defend and preserve their independent investigative roles.
They reaffirm their commitment to enhancing transparency and the effectiveness of anti-corruption investigations, avoiding political interference and abuse.
The events were preceded by a call from veteran of the Russia-Ukraine war, Dmytro Kozyatynskyi, who urged Kyiv residents to gather for an evening protest against the recently adopted legislation regarding NABU and SAP.
Similar mass demonstrations also took place in Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Sumy, highlighting the widespread and profound reaction of Ukrainian society to attempts to undermine anti-corruption institutions.
