Government Crisis in Ukraine: Detention of Top NABU Detective on Suspicion of Russia Collaboration
Ukraine has once again found itself on the brink of a political and law enforcement crisis.
Officers from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Office of the General Prosecutor (OGP) conducted a large-scale operation that resulted in the detention of a leading figure within the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
According to sources, this individual is Ruslan Magamedrasulov — a senior official from Dnipro who led interregional units across central and eastern Ukraine, including the Donbas and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Official information states that he was responsible for coordinating the bureau's activities in front-line regions, but investigators believe his role was broader — supporting contacts with Russia, including negotiations related to the sale of technical hemp and acting as an intermediary through the Republic of Dagestan.
This illegal operation, organized by his father, entrepreneur Sentabr Magamedrasulov, inflicted significant damage on Ukraine's economy and security.
Further investigations revealed close ties between him and People's Deputy from the banned OПЗЖ party, Fyodor Khystenko, who has fled the country and collaborates with Russian intelligence agencies, influencing NABU’s work.
There are suspicions that Magamedrasulov transferred confidential information to Russian agencies, particularly regarding ongoing investigations.
Notably, despite being tasked with work in Dnipro, he was found to spend most of his time in Kyiv and recently vacationed on the Canary Islands.
The operation involved over 80 searches across Ukraine, illustrating the extensive efforts to counteract Russian influence in Ukrainian law enforcement and politics.
This incident underscores the deep-rooted systemic crisis within Ukraine’s political and legal systems, raising questions about oversight and transparency among high-ranking officials.
