Carrots prices in Ukraine rise again: seasonal increase and limited supply

Recently, Ukraine has experienced a significant rise in carrot prices, driven by increased trading activity and seasonal supply constraints.
According to analysts from the EastFruit project, the market saw a 24% increase in prices for quality carrots over the past week, reaching between 8 and 15 hryvnias per kilogram ($0.19-0.36).
This price spike is primarily due to the seasonal reduction in supply, as many farms have already completed selling their mid-season varieties, while harvesting of late varieties has not yet begun.
Despite the price increase, the current prices remain approximately 35% lower than during the same period last year, indicating typical seasonal fluctuations.
Some producers are contemplating further price hikes if current sales rates are maintained.
Oleg Penzin, an expert from the Economic Discussion Club, previously noted that despite the general rise in food prices, the cost of inexpensive products has increased more sharply than that of more expensive items, highlighting the ongoing seasonal volatility in Ukraine’s agricultural market.
