In the first eight months of 2024, Ukraine’s local budgets experienced a significant rise in revenue from land taxes, reflecting steady economic activity and effective fiscal policies.

During this period, the country collected approximately 29.7 billion hryvnias from land-related payments, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

A substantial portion of these funds has been allocated towards infrastructure development, support for local projects, and the fulfillment of community social needs. The largest contributors to land fee revenues are regions with extensive land resources and high economic activity: Dnipropetrovsk region led with over 5.2 billion hryvnias, followed by Kyiv with 4.2 billion, Odesa with 2.6 billion, and Lviv with more than 2 billion hryvnias.

These regions play a crucial role in filling the coffers of local budgets. It is important to note that land tax must be paid by landowners and users from the moment of property registration or land use rights.

If ownership or use rights are terminated within a year, the land tax is calculated only for the actual period of possession or use.

This approach ensures fair and transparent funding of regional development and promotes balanced growth across Ukraine.
