Ukraine’s Budget Revenue in August: Significant Growth and Emerging Financial Challenges

Last month, the Ukrainian government released data on the state budget revenues for August 2025, revealing substantial growth and new challenges for the country’s financial stability.
According to the Ministry of Finance, a record sum of 233.9 billion hryvnias was collected by the state’s treasury in August, driven by successful tax and mandatory payment collections.
This marks a 15% increase compared to the same period last year, indicating a positive trend in budget replenishment.
The largest contribution came from the tax service – 125.4 billion hryvnias, including 50.8 billion from corporate profit tax, 29.6 billion from personal income tax and military levy, and 21.5 billion from VAT.
Out of this, 36.1 billion hryvnias were collected, with 14.6 billion hryvnias refunded.
Additionally, the budget received 15.5 billion hryvnias in excise taxes, and corporate net profit contributed 3.5 billion hryvnias.
Rent payments amounted to 3.1 billion hryvnias.
Customs payments contributed another 59.3 billion hryvnias, reflecting active efforts from customs authorities and tax agencies.
Overall, August’s total tax, contribution, and other payments reached over 303 billion hryvnias, marking a significant achievement for the country’s economy.
Furthermore, pension and social insurance funds received 47.6 billion hryvnias.
A key source of revenue remains international aid and grants, which amounted to 44 billion hryvnias in August, providing additional stability and opportunities for economic planning.
